Progress Report Nepal Association for Global Cooperation (NAGC)

Nepal Association for Global Cooperation (NAGC) is unique in that it comes at a very critical time, when there is a strong need for unity and harmony among the Nepali people. Most especially after what our Motherland, Nepal, has been through for the past several years. Our Founder and President, Mr. Mani Nepali, has called upon all the Nepalese around the world to unite on the basis of common interest, national sovereignty, integrity, inclusive democracy and social justice. NAGC aims to preserve and promote Nepalese unity, identity and culture among Nepalese, friends of Nepal and those interested in Nepal. It also seeks to encourage cooperation, goodwill and mutual support among Nepali residents around the globe.

 

Some of NAGC’s highlights since its inception are as follows:

 

·         July 25, 2008 Registration of NAGC

·         August 2008: NAGC Mission was established

·         August 2008: With the collaborated effort of our President Mani Nepali, General Secretary Anup Srivastav, and help from our Founding Members, a very beautifully stated 'Nepalese Nationalism' was defined;

·         September 2008: Our valued Director of Legal Support, Rudra Sharma rewrote NAGC bylaws with legal wording in close coordination with President, Vice Presidents, General Secretary, Secretaries and Treasurers. The bylaws were approved at a meeting of the Board of Directors of Nepal Association for Global Cooperation on September 19, 2008 and is available on our NAGC website;

·         September 2008: The meeting also unanimously approved the 'California Declaration' prepared by the NAGC General Secretary Anup Srivastav;

·         September – December 2008: NAGC President Mani Nepali went to South Asia to promote NAGC Organization. He was successful in establishing the Nepal Chapter and the South Asia Chapter.

·         November 2008: Our first Physical office in Kathmandu was formed as the Global Information and Networking Office;

·         November 2008: Three full fledged chapters were formed. They are our founding state California Chapter, Motherland Nepal Chapter and South Asia Chapter;

·         December 2008: Honoring the sentiments of the concerned founders and their recommendations, our President has reshuffled the current California Chapter which is also acting as the Interim Global Board of Directors;

·         December 2008: The NAGC website has been improved with technical help from Nepal, India and America and we are continually working on improvements. Constructive suggestions are always welcome.

·         First General Assembly on January 17, 2009

·         February 1, 2009 –Supported the first Children Camp initiated by the mothers of Bay Areas http://hamrosamaj.net/?p=2295

·         March 2009 – Formation of NAGC Middle East and Africa Chapter

·         April 14-27 President’s US Tour addresses to several New Year gatherings

·         May 24, 2009-Ramjham Himali Saanjh  a grand success

·         May 2009, First Nepali Movie production in California

·         June 8, 2009 Signature campaign against Foreign interference

·         July 2-4 participation in 27th ANA convention

·         July 25, 2009 –America Chapter formation

·         Meeting August 8 2009

·         August 9, 2009 Formation of New Task Force

·         August 11, 2009 Protest against dishonor of Nepali docs

·         September 05, 06 2009- President invited to speak in the joint convention of NASEA and ANMA

·         March 7, 2010 memorandum to Ambassador

·         March 22 Honoring Authors of God wife

·         28-NAGC General Meeting, proposal of the Festival

·         April 6-Public Announcement of Nepal Festival

·                        Formation of Wisconsin Chapter

·         Declaration of Chapter Directives

·         July 24-Innaugural Ceremony and First day of Nepal Festival, jointly inaugurated by Berkeley Vice Mayor and First Secretary of Nepal Embassy

·         July 25, Second day of Nepal Festival and concludes with a grand Award  Ceremony. Speech by Peggy Moore, Political Director of OFA, Lion District Governor Dave Peter and Betty Olson Jones the OEA President.

 

Some of our future plans include but are not limited to:

a. Literary campaign in Nepal

b. Adopt a village (Nepal) feasibility study

c. Nepali Community Center and partnership with other organizations

d. Advocacy for Nepalese outside Nepal

e. Nepali language and culture promotion partnership

f. Job Assistance services and partnership

 

·         Utilizing the website to bring the Nepalese around the globe into meaningful harmony and mutual cooperation;

·         Organizing E-Conventions, seminars, workshops and symposiums on the essential issues of the time;

·         Advocating national unity, democracy and human rights in the motherland and elsewhere;

·         Establishing a fund to help the least advantaged people of the community; enhancing, education, training, employment and small businesses; and

·         Other essential activities to fulfill the objectives of the association.

 

So, I call on all the Founding members and Global Advisory Board members to give us your advice, input. Share your knowledge and practical insight on how you believe we can fulfill the mission of NAGC together. Give us your evaluation of NAGC's efforts so far since the inception and what vision you would like to explore and see in our future plans. Let us work in a hope and trust that NAGC can become one of the largest and probably one of the most important organizations of the Nepalese community.
